Wow-oh-wow! I loved this paper! You presented the opposites in the song so clearly, along with what we can learn from it! I loved what Ellen Reiss said to you about pleasure and pain, and I immediately felt the kind criticism of that for my own life. Pain given good form in art always makes for pleasure—good golly, Ms. Molly! I’ll be thinking about that for my own life.
This also explains why great tragic operas that I’ve loved, like Madama Butterfly, make for pleasure.
